Equestrian Home Decor for Every Room
Decorating a home is a creative and often eye-opening experience. You put pieces of your personality into each room until you get a place that reflects all of your ideals, hobbies and desires. Perhaps that is why home décor products have become so easily available. It seems that every large department store now has an area dedicated to themed décor. Equestrian home decor is just one of a million themes, but holds enough interest to be one of the most popular subjects.
The rustic style complements an equestrian decor very nicely, and the two themes often go together. For those wondering just what they can do to add equestrian home décor into their homes, here are a few things that can be added to each room:
* Living Area/Dining room: A horse theme here might include figurines or paintings of horses. Furnishings with horses incorporated in them, such as a customized clock or lamp, would be a great addition. It’s not necessary to have hardwood floors, although many who follow a western theme like the rustic look of wood floors. For those who already have wood floors, an inexpensive area rug with a horse theme would add a great finishing touch.
* Bedroom: The first thing people see is the bed, and it’s the easiest place to announce a theme. A blanket or throw with horses is easy to find, and usually reasonably priced. To take it a step further, decorators can find comforter sets to fit any size bed. Wooden or porcelain figurines and western landscape pictures can add dimension to the room.
* Bathroom: Decorators can buy bathroom “kits” that include a soap dish, toothbrush holder, nightlight and liquid soap holder in different styles. Shower curtains, small plastic figurines, and pictures can round out an equestrian or western theme.
* Kitchen: This is perhaps one of the easiest rooms to customize with an equestrian home décor, without changing too much of the original feel. Dinnerware sets, tablecloths, tableware, burner covers, magnets, potholders – the possibilities here are endless. Some tableware sets will include salt and pepper shakers, a napkin holder, creamer container and more.
* Child’s bedroom: It may seem harder to decorate a small child’s room, simply because breakable figurines don’t have a long shelf life here. Decorators will find, however, that there are plenty of ways to compensate for what CAN’T be put in a child’s room. Bed sheet sets are a simple start, as are posters or pictures. Stuffed animal horses can find a great home on the bed or dresser. A small, wooden rocking horse in the corner, a lampshade with galloping horses, wall border, or even My Little Pony toys can add to a child-friendly equestrian theme.
