Decorating The Perfect Bathroom For Your Child

If you need to decorate your kid’s bathroom, you have some unique challenges ahead of you. Because young children use the bathroom so often (many times accompanied by a parent), these bathrooms are often the most used rooms in a house. However, most parents don’t know how to decorate their kid’s bathroom so that it’s whimsical and “fun”. Children can be vocal about things they dislike, so parents of young kids sometimes find that their design choices are less-than-welcome. This article will give you a few tips for decorating a child’s bathroom.

Knowing The Gender Behind The Decorations

When decorating a child’s bathroom, start from the gender of the child and work from that starting point. A boy’s bathroom can be decorated with things more likely to appeal to them such as cars, dinosaurs or bugs. If a young girl uses the bathroom, perhaps a princess or doll theme would be appropriate. Of course, your own child’s tastes will be the most important consideration, so if your little girl likes to play with blocks and trucks, so be it. If a bathroom will be used by children of both genders, then a neutral theme should be worked towards while providing for the interests of both children. For every need or theme, there are plenty of accessories that you can use.

What Accessories And Decorations Can Be Used?

There are a large number of different accessories which you can use to decorate a child’s bathroom. If your child is into cars, you can get a bathmat and shower curtain with cars on them – this will generally be available as a set. Similarly, if your child likes Disney cartoons, you can use bathroom rugs with pictures of Mickey or Minnie, for example, in their bathrooms.

Even toothbrush tumblers are available in many different styles. For example, you could buy a dinosaur-shaped tumbler, or one of Cinderella. Soap dispensers come in many styles too and can also be used to enliven children’s bathrooms with their favorite characters, animals and more.

Other things that can be used to decoration a child’s bathroom includes knobs, waste baskets, tissue dispenser and soap dishes.

For instance, you can replace the knobs on any bathroom wall cabinets in your kid’s bathroom if you so choose.

You can choose from soccer balls, jungle animals, clown faces, or the like. It all depends on children’s preferences. Similar interests can be reflected in other decorations.

A Bathroom That Grows With Your Child

It’s no secret that your child’s tastes will change as they get older. Your child’s décor and accessories will likely change right along with their interests. Shower curtains, bathmats, soap dispensers and tumblers can all be replaced to reflect these changes.

If possible, avoid using decorations in your kid’s bathroom that might be difficult or impossible to change. For example, wallpaper with images of Cinderella on it may be very age-appropriate when a girl is three, but will be entirely inappropriate during adolescence, which means that the wallpaper will need to be replaced.

However you choose to decorate your kids bathroom is only limited by your imagination. There are so many accessories available to decorate with that the true challenge is deciding which to use. The way to put together a bathroom your child will love is to know what they are interested in and buy decorations and accessories which meet those interests. Just make sure that they are decorations which will be easy to replace as your child outgrows their interests. A little planning will long way towards designing a bathroom perfect for your child, no matter what they are into this year.
